Regional Mathematics Olympiad:

** Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO), 2016 for Assam region will be held on October 16, 2016 from 1 pm to 4 pm in four centres of the State viz., Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Tezpur and Silchar.

** The competition is being organised under the aegis of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) which has been conducting Mathematics Olympiad Programme in India since 1989 on behalf of National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India.

** The prestigious Annual Programme for Mathematical Talent Hunt is completed in four steps for which 25 regions all over the country have been identified with the appointment of a regional coordinator for each region. In Step 1, each region conducts each own regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) and selects maximum of 30 students based on the performance of the participants.

** The participants selected from each region are eligible to contest for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO) (Step 2) from which the top 30 contestants from all over the country are selected for a month long training by a team of experts (Step 3).

** After a series of training and evaluation by experts a team of top 6 contestants is selected for contesting in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) (Step 4) to be organised by a host country sometimes in the month of July. Eligibility for RMO’16:
All Indian students who are born on or after August 1, 1997 and, in addition, are in class XI or below are eligible to appear for RMO. Class XII students are not eligible for RMO/Pre RMO.

How to apply for RMO 2016, (Assam) :
Students studying in any institution in Assam satisfying eligibility criteria as mentioned above can apply for RMO 2016 (Assam region) in prescribed form available with this notification. The completely filled in application form downloaded from the website www.aam.org.in must be e-mailed after scanning to the e-mail account prabin1955@gmail.com or bdaschoudhury@rediffmail.com or guwahatipubliccollege@gmail.com

Last date for mailing the application is October 5, 2016.

After receiving the applications, a list will be prepared and displayed in the website : www.aam.org.in showing the name of the center of Examination and Roll No. to each applicant. Admit cards can be collected from the center coordinator on payment of Rs. 200/- in cash as exam. fees before the examination.
