The Better Photography Wildlife India Photography Awards (WIPA 2017) have been initiated with this in mind.

WIPA 2017:
WIPA has an open theme across genres and types of wildlife photography. Only photographs of wildlife inhabiting India are eligible for the awards. The Jury will consist of some of India’s most renowned wildlife photographers.

** WIPA has an open theme across genres and types of wildlife photography.
** The Jury will consist of some of India’s most renowned wildlife photographers.

WIPA 2017 Emerging Photographer Award:
** This is a separate award for photographers of under 28 years of age.
** Participation is on the basis of submission of a portfolio.
** The winner will be awarded a fully paid admission into the 7-day Wildlife Photography Masterclass in Kenya.

Registration Process:
Step-By-Step Participation:
1. Register yourself on our contest page www.betterphotography.in/wipa2017 and sign in.
2. Submit your images in the appropriate theme.
3. The entries will be judged by a panel of eminent judges.

Entering The Competition:
** All photographs need to be of Indian wildlife only.
** All entries need to be made online as uploads after logging in to www.betterphotography.in/wipa2017 and filling up the registration form in detail.
** Entrants are allowed to upload max 5 images for WIPA 2017 Main Contest and 20 single images for WIPA 2017 Emerging Photographer Award.
** Entrants must be below 28 years of age as on Feb 28, 2017 to participate in the WIPA 2017 Emerging Photographer Award.
** There are no print entries. Entries sent through email, prints, or through any other means, will not be considered.

Submission Guidelines For Digital Image Files:
** Entrants must ensure that they use the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to register, login and upload entries.
** Images must be in JPEG files with a minimum resolution of 2000 pixels on the shorter side. The file size should not exceed 5MB.
** There must be no identifying marks, names, dates or copyright information on the face of the images uploaded. This will immediately eliminate that image as an entry.
** While there are no restrictions on the type of camera used, uploaded images made with digital cameras of any sort must contain the original EXIF metadata information.
** Scanned film or prints must contain scanner EXIF metadata information.
** Once an entry is uploaded, the system does not allow for modification or deletion of that entry. Entrants must ensure that they select their entries carefully before uploading.
** Entrants are not allowed to register themselves more than once with different identities. Any entrant found doing so, will be immediately disqualified.

Closing Date:
** All entries must be uploaded latest 10 March 2017.

Judging And Results:
** A panel of judges will be appointed by Better Photography to judge the competition during all its phases. Judging of entries will be anonymous, with no information about participants or images or videos available to judges.
** Entries will be judged on the basis of relevance, interpretation, expression, emotive content, creativity, technique and aesthetics of an image or set of images.
** Judging will occur on the basis of an automated system of points awarded for images moving into successive rounds of eliminations.
** Entrants may be contacted for a high-resolution JPEG or RAW file of their image, original unedited footage, and other identification / age / residence documents, etc., for potential shortlisting purposes during the competition.
** Failure to produce such details within three days will eliminate an entrant from the shortlisting process.
** Award nominees will be announced and showcased in one of the future issues of Better Photography. Keep following Better Photography and Overdrive’s websites, Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on the same.
** Entrants with the top ranking images in each category will need to make themselves available for a Wildlife India Forum 2017.
** Failure to be available to participate in this, will automatically eliminates the entrant from being a winner. The entrant with the next highest number of points will then be automatically selected.
** The decision of the judges will be final. Network18 will not enter into any correspondence regarding the judging or the organization of the competition.

** 1st & 2nd Prize: Admission into an Exclusive 7-day Wildlife Photography Masterclass in Kenya
** Emerging Photographer Award: This is a separate award for photographers under 28 years of age. Participation is on the basis of submission of a portfolio.
** The winner will be awarded a fully paid admission into the 7-day Wildlife Photography Masterclass in Kenya.
** Top 10 Wildlife Photographs: Special Citation & Inclusion in ‘The Best of Indian Wildlife’ book
** Top 100 Indian Wildlife Photographs: Certificate of Merit, Print Exhibition & Online Showcase
