Declamation Contest:

Date & Day: 29th March 2017, Wednesday
Time: 10:00 AM onward
Venue: Auditorium, SIILAS Campus.

General Rules:
This is a declamation contest wherein the
1. The students will declaim the speeches of the renowned leaders.
2. The orator has to find a speech, that has previously been delivered in public, analyze and interpret it, memorize it, and then participate in the competition along with it.
3. Competition shall be in English or Hindi language

1. Oratory Guidelines:
a) The topic for the Declamation Competition will be the one selected by the participant.
b) Competitors must state their topic, and the name of the leader, prior to commencing the speech. Any salutation to judges, audience member, etc., should precede the announcement of the topic.

** Reporting time for all the participants 09:00 A. M.
** Participant and those accompanying should all wear the identity cards of their School / College/ University.
** 7-10 minutes with 30 second grace.

c) Timing of the speech begins immediately after the speaker gives the topic. Timing stops when the speaker finishes. The timekeeper’s decisions are final.
d) No special props, costumes, clothing or prompts are permitted.
e) Competitors may use notes.
f) A manuscript can be used during all rounds of competition.

g) The contest will be judged on:
** Presentation, accuracy, intonation, command on language.
** Any concern on issue will be dealt by the contest convener.
** The use of podium is optional.
** Use of notes is allowed.

Scoring:
1. Presentation and Delivery – maximum 30 points. (Voice quality, enunciation, pronunciation, gestures and emphasis will be considered).
2. Overall Effectiveness – maximum 20 points. (Appeal, effect, polish, and showmanship will be considered).

Awards:
1. Certificate of Participation will be given to all the contestants.
2. Winners and runners will be given a trophy and a cash prize.
3. The results and prizes will be announced the same day after the declamation contest.
