National Essay Competition On Water :

** The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation has decided to conduct the 1st National Essay Competition on Water Conservation during the year 2015-16. The Essay Competition aims to make the youth aware of the need for conservation and prevention of pollution of this precious natural resource and at the same time involve their parents and society in this noble cause.

** Wide publicity through advertisement in the news papers, website of CGWB, Regional Offices of CGWB etc. will be given for large scale participation in the Essay Competition. The Essay Competition will be held for two categories across the country in two phases. The winners for each category will be awarded cash prizes

Category- I:  (Essay Competition for the age group of 15 to 25 years)

I. Essay Competition Phase-1:

1. The competition is open to all in the age group of 15 to 25 years. The First Phase of Essay Competition is to be initiated in all the States/UT’s through advertisement in the leading newspapers and website of CGWB. All Regional Directors of CGWB would be requested to give wide publicity to the competition by soliciting participation of eligible candidates from among school/college/university students, working professionals from Govt. & NGOs, Private Companies etc.

2. Employees of Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR and all its organizations will not be eligible for participation.
3. The topic for the Essay Competition will be “Role of Youth in Water Management”.
4. Author will submit only one essay, otherwise it will be rejected.

5. All eligible persons will have to send one essay in either Hindi or English or the Regional language of the State through e-mail/post to the concerned Nodal Officer of CGWB. The Regional Director/ Head of Office/Officer- in-Charge of the Regional Offices/State Unit Offices of CGWB are Nodal Officers for the Essay Competition for the State/UT’s under their jurisdiction.

6. The essay is to be submitted in the respective State of his/her present stay to the respective Nodal Officer only. Else it would be rejected.
7. Details of the participant including candidate name, date of birth, father’s/mother’s name, profession (student, working etc.), name/address of educational institution/work place, communication address, telephone/mobile number(s), E-mail ID etc., are to be furnished along with the essay.
8. Each essay should not exceed 1500 words.
9. All the participants should submit/attach a coloured passport size photo alongwith their essay.
10. Manuscripts of the Essay can also be scanned and sent to the concerned Nodal Officer through e mail.
11. Last date for receipt of entries by the Nodal Officers would be 12.03.2016. Essay submitted after the last date either by e mail or by post shall not be considered.
12. Entries not fulfilling the above criteria would be rejected.

Essay Competition Phase- II (selection of prize winners in each State/UT):
1. The Nodal Officers for States/UTs as mentioned in above table 1 would appoint a panel of Jury to evaluate the essays received. The jury will select ten best essays out of all the essays received in the respective State/UT. The authors of these best ten essays would be called in person for competing in the Phase -II of the Essay Competition, which will be held in each Regional offices and/or State Unit offices as given in the above Table -1.

2. The decision of the Jury would be final and binding for selection of the best 10 Essays.
3. Essay Competition Phase II is proposed to be organized on 17.03.2016.
4. The Essay Competition will be conducted in English, Hindi and Regional languages.
5. All the selected ten authors will bring their proof of age like certificate for class 10th
6. Paper and pen for writing of the Essay Competition will be provided by the Nodal Officer. , Aaadhar Card, Driving license, Voter ID Card or some other such authentic document.
7. Topic/theme for the Phase- II essay writing will be decided by committee constituted by the competent authority. Topic/Theme for the Essay Competition will be disclosed at the venue. However, it would be related to issues pertaining to water
