CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) is a first-of-its-kind national competition to reward, recognize and celebrate teachers and also the first step towards the CENTA Certificates.

Based on the tremendous response for the first edition, this second edition TPO 2016 is being held in 22 cities across India, with 11 subject tracks plus two Challenger tracks offered! TPO 2016 is supported by The Hindu, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Varkey Foundation, HT Parekh Foundation (HDFC) and Central Square Foundation.
CENTA Standards :
TPO 2016 is based on the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) Standards, a set of well-defined competencies for teachers. TPO will cover a subset of the CENTA Standards and interested candidates can go through the practical assessment post the TPO to attain the full CENTA Certificates.
Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) offers Level 1, 2 and 3 Certificates for new, experienced and senior teachers respectively, aiming to create a career path and opportunities for teachers, and serving as a pointer for schools in their recruiting and professional development efforts. TPO is common for teachers of all experience levels.
Eligibility and Registration :
CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO) 2016 is open to everyone who is:
At least 18 years of age (as on January 1st, 2017)
A graduate in any discipline OR a diploma holder in Education.
TPO is primarily intended for teaching professionals at the school level – that is, school teachers and principals, supplemental teachers at school level, teacher educators and B.Ed./D.Ed./other students entering the profession.
However, anyone who is interested in understanding his or her own teaching competencies is welcome to participate, as long as the two criteria above are met. This could include professional fellows in teaching, part-time volunteers, parents involved with their children’s education and others exploring this interest.
Please note that some of the prizes will be restricted to teaching professionals. However, everyone who participates will get a personalized confidential report and 500 to 800 declared ‘winners’ will also get ranks and TPO Certificates.
The registration fee for TPO for a single test track is Rs. 450 (inclusive of 15% service tax and all other charges). The registration fee for TPO Challenger is Rs. 750 all-inclusive. Payment can be made online, in which case the Registration Confirmation will be available immediately.
In case online payment is not possible for you, we are also providing options of making a Demand Draft deposit or cash deposit in any HDFC Bank branch close to your location, or couriering a Demand Draft to us.
Any group of 10 or more participating teachers from the same school or organization, who are paying together, can do a common registration and payment through the ‘Institutional Registration’ option.
Registration is a simple 4-step process, seeking Personal, Professional and Test related details, followed by payment.
Cash Awards :
HT Parekh Foundation (an initiative of HDFC) has sponsored the following cash awards for TPO 2016 winners!
Overall 1st rank holder: cash award of INR 1,00,000 (one lakh).
Overall 2nd and 3rd rank holders: cash awards of INR 50,000 (fifty thousand) each.
Overall 4th to 10th rank holders: cash awards of INR 10,000 (ten thousand) each.
Overall 11th to 50th rank holders: cash awards of INR 5,000 (five thousand) each.
Further, there are special cash awards for the toppers of the TPO Challenger test tracks:
1st rank holder of each of the Challenger tracks: cash award of INR 1,00,000 (one lakh) each.
2nd and 3rd rank holders of each the Challenger tracks: cash award of INR 50,000 (fifty thousand) each.
4th to 10th rank holders of each of the Challenger tracks: cash award of INR 10,000 (ten thousand) each.
* Note for TPO Challenger participants: In case you are eligible for a cash award in the TPO as well as the Challenger, you will receive only the higher one, not both.
