Police Band Competition :

Punjab State Police is hosting the 18th All India Police Band Competition-2017 under aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board at Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur (PPA) from 24th to 28th April 2017

RULES :
All India Police Band Competition is being conducted annually ever since it was introduced in 1999. The States/UT Police forces/CAPFs will organise the competition by rotation.

The dates for holding the competition will be decided by the Center Coordinating Committee of All India Police Duty Meet In consultation with concerned host organisation. All the States/ UT Police forces/CAPFs are eligible to participate in the competition.

JUDGES :
The panel of judges shall be restricted to only one consisting of minimum three judges (serving/retired)from Army or State/UT/CAPFs).

DRESS :
The Bands shall have clean, neat and presentable dress, as prescribed or as allowed by the respective states/ UT Police forces/CAPFs.

CONDUCT :
The Bands shall be tested in the following:-
(A) PIPE BAND
(i) Quick March – Three
(ii) Slow March – One
(iii) Strathspey – One
(iv) Reel – One
(Total Time 15 Minutes)
(B) BRASS BAND
(i) Quick March – TWO
(ii) Slow March – One
(iii) Overture – One
(seated performance)

Note:-
(i) Total marching time — 7 minutes
(ii) Overture: The Band headed by its Conductor shall play one overture in a sitting position (preferably in an indoor stadium or auditorium).
(Total time —10 Minutes)
(Total time: As mentioned on the conductor score ofthe selected overture).

JURY OF HONOUR AND APPEAL :
The Jury of Honour and Appeal will be decided by the host organisation. All disputes concerning the conduct of the Competition and the judgement of the Judges will be referred to the Jury of Honour and Appeal within half an hour from the time of completion of the event by paying prescribed fee as per rule of CCC of AIPDM/AIPSCB.

About Punjab Police Academy:
Prior to the enactment of the Police Act of 1861, the Punjab Police was known as “Military Police Force” and it consisted of 8100 men. Out of these, 5400 were infantry divided into six Battalions and the remaining 2,700 were the cavalry. The Punjab, the sword-arm of India, however, needed a superior force for its internal administration. The Police Act of 1861came into force in Punjab with effect from the 1st January, 1890.
