Celebration of Paryatan Parv

To celebrate the spirit of tourism and to motivate people to participate in activities showcasing the tourism potential of Incredible India, Government of India is launching the campaign ‘Paryatan Parv’ from 5th to 25th October,2017.

The Parv aims at supporting tourism in India and would revolve around elements like promoting tourism for all and organizing cultural activities.

Activity Details

In view of above, all affiliated schools shall celebrate this Parv by integrating following activities as a part of curriculum transaction between 5th to 25th October 2017 without breaking their daily routine:
i. Seminars to acquaint students with the benefits of tourism apart from cultivating a touring culture and imparting up-do-date information about tourism.
ii. Special Assemblies to highlight different cultures of the various states of India.

iii. Essay Writing/Slogan Writing/Debate /Quiz /Panting competition on various themes related to tourism such as:
** Role of tourism in the mutual understanding and Social harmony.
** Tourism brings economic and social prosperity.
** Education and tourism move hand in hand.
** Environmentally sustainable tourism.
** Tourism promoting plurality of cultures.

School excursions/ trips provide unique opportunity to students to connect with the real world by exploring new knowledge leading to permanent acquisition of learning. Schools may thus organise excursions/ trips for students,however, due care must be exercised as per the guidelines provided vide CBSE’s circular No. Acad-40/2014 dated 9thOctober, 2014.

National Curriculum Framework 2005 also states that the Department of Tourism and Archaeological Survey of India, having the ability to contribute to enriching education for children and teachers, are among important stakeholders in the school education. Schools may, therefore, collaborate with these departments in coordinating various activities effectively.

It is reiterated that above activities shall be undertaken in the most befitting mannerand due publicity may be given to all these events over print, electronic and social media.

A brief report on celebration of Paryatan Parv in school alongwith photographs may be sent to the Shri A.H Ahmed, Joint Director, CBSE, Shiksha Sadan, 17 Rouse Avenue, New Delhi by 30th October 2017. This issues in compliance of MHRD’s communication dated 4th October 2017 (copy attached).

Action Plan regarding organisation of ‘’Paryatan Parv’” from 5th to 25th October, 2017 by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development and various organisations under it
1) Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NV) – Approximately 4000 girls will visit locations of tourist interest in and around Bangalore, Mysore and Goa.
2) KVs and NVs will also organise local tours, taking their children to nearby tourist places depending upon the age of the children.
3) Navodaya Vidyalays will organise a special tourist festival in some schools to promote tourism.
4) CBSE is advising all schools affiliated to it (19000 schools) to organise excursion tours for students.
5) All States and UTs are being advised to organise various activities like excursion trips to tourist destinations, quiz, essay writing, debates and painting competitions for school students during this period.
6) KV will organise special painting competition and request students to write essay on the tourist sites visited.
7) CBSE will advise all schools affiliated to it (around 19000) to organise various tourism related activities like excursion trips to tourist destination quiz, essay writing, debates and painting competitions for school students during this period.
8) Various CBSE affiliated schools are having sports meet through out the country during October 2017. More than 2.0 lakhs students are participating. Out of these, some selected schools will be requested to organise excursion trips to nearby tourists/ heritage sites.

Important Dates

9) Mega heritage India Quiz is being launched on 5th October, 2017 to promote tourism. On line applications will be invited from schools affiliated to CBSE to take part in this Quiz. The students will be able to register between 5th to 20th October, 2017 and the final tally of the students participating shall be announced on 25th October, 2017.

(i) Taking into account the theme for this year’s 2017 World Tourism Day i.e. 27th September, 2017 – ‘’Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development, NCERT shall organise special seminar on 23rd October, 2017.

      CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2017:
      The CBSE Heritage India Quiz is an Inter School Quiz that was conceptualized by the Board in 2001 with the objective of promoting interest and desire among students to learn and appreciate the history, tourism and sharing the vast cultural heritage of our country.

      Each region will be divided into one, two, three or six City Chapters, depending on the basis of geographical diversity and the response from each region. The event will be held in a minimum of one location and a maximum of 06 locations as per the CBSE regions
