National Design Competition :

National design competition is a platform open to students from Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial Production, and Product Design for displaying their talents in digital design skills. The competition has successfully been continuing for the last three years.

The competition comprises of four rounds in the following order:
** 1st Round – At their respective college to perform 2D drafting.
** 2nd Round – At the nearest CADD Centre to generate 3D modelling.
** 3rd Round – Regional Level at the CADD Centre to Design for objective using the respective software.
** 4th Round – Finals at the Hyderabad to do Project Submission.

The participants are given free training during the 2nd Round enabling them to move to the next level of competency. On the grand finale day the participants have to analyze the 3D models in front of the juries, study and carry out a procedure which should match the report already submitted.

The finalist is selected based on his performance in the test and the presentation. The winner is awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh along with a certificate and trophy. The winner is also given a lucrative job offer after the completion of the graduation or diploma course. The runner-up is awarded a cash prize of Rs.30,000/- along with a certificate and trophy. The other finalists are awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- each along with a participation certificate.

Who can participate:
You can participate if you are a student studying 2nd/3rd/final year of Mechanical / Production / Automobile / Aeronautics / Robotics / Architecture / Civil / Structural engineering degree program.

The above mention departments are categorized as follows:
Stream 1: Mechanical and related (Mechanical, Automobile, Aeronautical and Industrial Production)
Stream 2: Civil and related (Civil and Architectural)

No team work:
The contest is purely based on individual participation and teams are not allowed.

The Levels Are As Follows:

Level 1: College Level (1st Feb’ 16 to 6th Mar’ 16)
It is a drafting competition within the college premises.

Challenge:
** You have to reproduce the given orthographic views in A2 drawing sheet or in a CAD software.
** All the students in the above mentioned departments can participate.
** Top 10 students based on the Stream will be shortlisted for the next level.

Level 2: Centre Level (22nd Feb’ 16 to 6th Mar’ 16)
Modelling/Design competition at the CADD Centre premises.

Challenge:
** Creating 3D Models from 2D Photographs using “Context Capture” software
** Mechanical & related: Design for objective using SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA software

Rewards for the participants:
The shortlisted students will get 8 hours free training (@ CADD Centre) on the respective software. Evaluation will be done as per the pre-determined guidelines & select 1 person per stream (1 from mechanical and 1 from civil, per centre)

Level 3: Semi-finals@ Regional Level (12 & 13th Mar’ 16)
Design competition at common venue.

Challenge:
Design for objective using ANSYS for Mechanical and STAAD.Pro for Civil & Architecture.

Rewards for the participants:
** The shortlisted students will get 8 hours free training on the respective software @ CADD Centre.
** The respective centre (from where the student is selected) will take care for the travel and other expenses for the competition participation.
** One student per stream per region will be selected for the final round.

Level 4: Finals(26th Mar’ 16)
Project Submission:
The Project Scope-Once the 3rd round resultsare announced, the shortlisted students will get the Scope of the projects.

Challenge:
** The finalist needs to prepare and submit the project on or before the specified date inMicrosoft PowerPoint format through a Pen drive/CD/DVD.
** On the day, the finalists need to analysis for the 3D models in front of the juries and to do a project presentation in front of the industry experts, where the industry experts will ask questions based on his report and presentation
** The respective centre will take care for the travel and other arrangements.
** The juries will select the winner and runner based on his performance in the Analysis test and the presentation for each stream.
