Goa River Marathon:
Now in its sixth year, the Goa River Marathon is the rated as the most entertaining marathon in India and overall, the 5th Best Marathon in India.

No other marathon offers the unique advantage of running in absolute greenery and that too, right next to a an unspoilt, unpolluted river.

Come, run in the cool invigorating early morning breeze in Goa. The Goa River Marathon has no cut off time so you can run at your own pace or better still, choose a pacer from amongst our expert pacers.

While registrations for the marathon will close on 10th December, we urge you to not wait because late commers might find obtaining hotel accommodation a bit of a nightmare. So hurry!

The Event Venue:
SAG Ground – venue for the 2015 Goa River Marathon

Sports Authority of Goa Ground or “SAG Ground” or “Chicalim Ground” as it is locally called, is less than 1km from the airport and is an ideal place to conduct large sporting events and exhibitions.

There’s plenty of space for us to setup stalls, canteens and other facilities.

How to reach venue:
All hotels in Goa have on-call taxi service and the friendly hotel staff will go out of their way to ensure you reach the venue on time. Taxi drivers will usually provide you their cell phone number. You could pre-arrange a pickup. The venue is well known and simply saying “Chick ka lim ground, air port road” will suffice – plan to leave your room at an appropriate time so as to reach the venue with at least 45 minutes to spare.

Q.1 When?

Q.2 Where?
Bigger Marathon, more participants, bigger plans! We simply had to select a new locale – one with more space for everything. And we found it Here

Q.3 Are you experienced to conduct this event?
This is our 6th edition and also, we have appointed “Runners for life”, a Bangalore based experienced recreation company as technical consultants for this event. Also, we have appointed a professional event time keeper – Timing Technologies India for accurate time keeping. We also have active support from You Too Can Run

Q.4 Will there be adequate arrangements for drinking water or medical emergencies?
Of course! Ample drinking water will be provided at frequent intervals, local life support facilities (provided by the Wockhardt unit in Goa) will follow and be on stand-by. Local media will cover the events extensively :)

Q.5 Are there any age, gender or other categories for the marathon?
Yup! In addition to open category there will be ‘Veteran’ (45+), ‘Senior Veteran’ (55+), ‘Super Veteran’ (65+), ‘Indian’ (Indian nationals) and ‘Goan’ (Goa state) categories. We may add more in the run-up to the event.

Q.6 What documents are needed?
For open category – None! For other categories please keep ready a scan of your driver’s license or passport before you register (jpg format).

Q.7 What is the last date for the registration?
December 10th, 2015. If you are not a local resident and planning to stay in a hotel, we urge you not to wait till the last moment as hotels tend to fill up pretty quickly.

Q.8 I don’t see the link to a downloadable registration form?
Sorry! Processing registrations manually was causing too much confusion and resulted in errors. Very often the partipant would arrive for the event while the form would still be in the post or courier co. We have done away with downloadable forms. Please register online – it is secure, very efficient and will ensure your name is printed on your bib.

Q.9 When should I reach the venue?
Plan to reach at least 45 minutes before start time of your event.
Full Marathon will start at 5:30 a.m.
Half Marathon will start at 6:00 a.m.
10KM Competitive Run will start at 6:15 a.m. and,
The Fun Walk-Run will start at 9:00 a.m.

Q.10 What’s in the kit?
Your Bib (with name and number printed), timing chip and a jersey especially made for the event

Q.11 What happens if I qualify for prize money in more than one category?
If this happens, the decision of the Race Director and organizers is final. You will qualify for cash award in any one category.

Q.12 When and from where do we collect the race kit?
Pick up your Goa River Marathon running kit at the Expo being held at the event venue. Race kits will be issued on these days and during these hours:
Friday, December 11, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Saturday, December 12, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Please bring the print out of your payment receipt/email. Race kit will not be mailed. Race kits will not be given out on Race Day.

Q.13 Is pasta available at local hotels?
Starred hotels usually have it on the menu. However and for your convienence, the organizers have arranged a pasta dinner in the evening before the race. You can opt-in for it at the time of registration.

Q.14 What is the nearest airport, bus terminal and railway station?
Airport is less than one kilometer from race venue. Airport is called “Dabolim”. The bus terminal is at Vasco-da-Gama. Not all interstate buses terminate at Vasco-da-gama. Some terminate at Panaji, the capital of Goa while other’s terminate at Madgaon (locally pronounced “mud gao”). In both cases however, there are connecting buses to Vasco-da-Gama (locally pronounced “Vas co”). The same applies to trains. While there is a terminal at Vasco, the main train terminal is at Madgaon.
