SBI Great Malnad Challenge is an MTB bicycle challenge which is into its 6th edition this year. SBI-GMC had a very modest beginning in 2010 with only 22 over zealous cyclists. We have come a long way since, what started off as a competitive yet not rewarded challenge has now shaped into an enviable event which is pegged to be the biggest and most challenging MTB bicycle ride in South India with multiple categories and attractive rewards. Our event in the past years has been sponsored by such elite bank as State Bank Of India (Title Sponsors) and Tirumala Constructions (Title Sponsors). We have had partners such as Giant-Starkenn, Wildcraft, Deccan Chronicle, Fever 104 FM and KSRTC among others.

With every intent to make this challenge as intense, there couldn’t have been a better stretch of terrain to pin down than the Western Ghats. Malnad was chosen to host this cycling trek keeping in mind the arduous terrain that it presents, with some of the steepest ascents and descents, sharp hairpin bends and the varying elevation with the lowest point of altitude at 17 feet (above sea level) and highest point of altitude at 6159 feet (above sea level). This trail covers over 700 kms and spans 8 days (including a break-day) testing a cyclists’ perseverance and skill. SBI-GMC format though has seen some changes every year, which definitely has further refined and improved the event, it has retained the core essence which is – degree of difficulty & intensity.

And this year, it is bigger, tougher and richer with different categories, longer distance and prize money to be won.

Registration :
Great Malnad Challenge for the first time is dividing the entire cycling challenge into multiple categories to increase competition, diversity in terms of participation and to enable more participants to have an opportunity to give a shot at reaching the finish line first and win under any of the different categories they choose to register and participate.

SBI-GMC2015 is divided into 3 main categories all of which start on the same date, 31-Oct-2015 at 06:00 AM IST and will span over 8 days, until 07-Nov-2015 (including one day of rest). The categories are:

SBI-GMC2015 OPEN:
This is an ‘Individuals’ category and is open to the general public with anyone above the age limit of 18, there is no upper age limit. This category is further divided into ‘Men’ and ‘Women’, thus allowing each to win a prize within their specific category. There is no limitation of Nationality to participate under this category.
Minimum age eligibility: 18 years as on 30/10/2015 (born on or before 30/10/1997)
The registration fee under this category is Rs.25,000/- (383.79 USD) per individual.
8 days – 700 kms

SBI-GMC2015 CORPORATE:
This is a ‘Team’ based category and is open only for registered companies/firms (Public or Private Ltd). The team should comprise of 3 individual cyclists from the same company and there is no gender limitation (could be any combination of 3 individuals). There is no limitation on the number of teams a company can field.
Minimum age eligibility: 18 years as on 30/10/2015 (born on or before 30/10/1997)
The registration fee under this category is Rs.60,000/- (921.09 USD) per team
8 days – 700 kms

SBI-GMC2015 MASTERS:
This is an ‘Individuals’ category open for general public exclusively for all men and women above the age of 45. Both ‘Men’ and ‘Women’ will have to register under the same category, there’s no bifurcation. There is no limitation of Nationality to participate under this category.
Minimum age eligibility: 45 years as on 30/10/2015 (born on or before 30/10/1970)
The registration fee under this category is Rs.20,000/- (307.03 USD) per individual.
8 days – 700 kms
