Sparsh is an opportunity for writers to showcase their imagination, abstractness and their storytelling prowess. Writing is skill whereas Storytelling is magic.

We at QuoteUnquote would like to give them a chance to create their magic and win its fruits. The winner will win 10,000 INR and the story will be published on our website.

Contest Guidelines :
** Read ALL the guidelines.
** Submissions should be previously unpublished,i.e original in English and less then 5,000 words. We’re more likely to print shorter pieces.
** Stories from all genres are welcome.
** Most of our submissions are bleak. Happy pieces are more apt to stand out.
** We prefer writing with narrative.
** We do not publish poetry, erotica, inspirational fiction, polemics, non-fiction, gore, fanfic or young adult fiction.
** Don’t send us erotica.
** At this time we are not interested in unsolicited artwork.
** No multiple submissions, one per reading period except by invitation.
** No simultaneous submissions.
** Cover letters are discarded unread.
** Review by judges is blind. Do not include your name inside your submission. Works with identifying information will be returned unread.
** Please don’t send us your trunk stories.
** Submission is open to all writers.
How to submit your Work :
** Submissions are only accepted by e-mail and should be sent as .docx /.doc/.pdf attachments.
** Please use the title of your story as the subject of the email.
** Please send your submissions from email id you have provided while registering to the contest (mail from email id other than one used during registration will be discarded).

** You’ll receive an e-mail confirming your submission or notifying you of errors. Check your spam folder. If you don’t receive an automated acknowledgement within 24 hours, we didn’t get your submission. E-mail queries[AT]thequoteunquote.com if this happens.
** Submissions Period : 26/09/2017 – 13/10/2017 (Submissions after 13/10/2017 will be discarded)

Love your questions, here are some of the common ones.
1. Is there any registration fees?
No, Registration For Sparsh is FREE.
2. Can I send a story that I have blogged?
Sorry, no.The guidelines say, ‘it must be original and unpublished’.A blog = published.
3. Can I submit non-fiction?
No. Fiction only, please.
4. Can I submit more than one story?
No. ‘Only one story allowed per person.
5. Can anyone submit a story?
Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to submit a story.
6. Do you accept international submissions?
No. Competition is only for Indians.
7. What happens if I submit a story after the 13th October Last Date?
It won’t get read. You’ll just have to wait for the launch of the 2018 competition.
8. Can I write more than 4500 words?
We’re afraid not. Entries longer than 5000 words will be disqualified.
9. How do I send my story (address, format, information)?

10. I have an agent. Can my agent submit an entry on my behalf?
Yes, that’s fine, but please ensure that they tell us they are your agent, and provide us with contact details for both of you.
11. Have you got copyright for the texts used in the handwriting competition?
No, but the authors have kindly allowed us to use their work for this purpose. All copyright remains with the writers where relevant.
12. Can I make changes to my entries after they have been submitted?
No, changes cannot be made to entries after they have been submitted (see our rules). If you want to submit a more recent version of your entry please send it additionally. Both versions will be seen by the judges as we are unable to make substitutions.
13. Are simultaneous submissions allowed?
Yes, we do allow simultaneous submissions. If you submit your entries to other competitions or publications at the same time, it is on the understanding that you will immediately withdraw it from the Sparsh if it wins elsewhere first.
Equally, if you win a prize with us you should withdraw from all other competitions (refunds will not be made).
14. Can I use a pen name?
We do allow pseudonyms although we ask that entries be made using your real name. When the winners are selected we will check how they wish to be known when published in press releases and on our website.
15. Will you return my entries after judging?
No, entries are not returned. Make sure you keep a copy.
16. What kind of file or format should I use for uploading my entry?
Allowed file types are .doc, .docx, .pdf .
17. Can I cut and paste my entry?
No, your entry will need to be a file type (as above) and be uploaded when you mail us at submissions[AT]thequoteunquote.com
18. When will the competition winners be announced?
Dates will be displayed on our website: QuoteUnquote after 13th October 2017.
19. Do you pass on my personal details to anyone else?
In accordance with our policy, your details will be held on a secure database and will not be released to any third party without your explicit and written consent. We may contact you by email once or twice a year with details of the next year’s competition and any other relevant information that may be of interest to you.
20. Does copyright remain with me?
Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, but we will have the unrestricted right to first publish the winning stories on the website and any other relevant promotional material.
