8th Advantage India a Short Film Contest

** Who Can Apply :
** The Participant should be over 18 years of age as on 15th September 2015
** The film should be made by a person of Indian origin OR the film should be based on India

** Any person(s) who are under any contractual or other obligation that would prohibit them from allowing Pocket Films to license the entry, in perpetuity on an exclusive, worldwide, residual-free and royalty-free basis, in all media formats and uses, in accordance with the terms below, are also ineligible to enter this contest.

** The Participant should either be the owner or the authorised rights holder for the content with competent authority to participate in the contest and accept all the terms and conditions stated herein.

What We Want :
SHORT FILMS of duration not more than 15 minutes, (including title & end credits). NO DOCUMENTARIES PLEASE.
** The films shall not be more than 15 minutes in duration, including the beginning and end credits. Films exceeding this time limit are liable to be rejected.
** The film should have been completed after 1st January 2014.
** The films can be in any language but should be subtitled in ENGLISH. Films without subtitles are liable to be rejected.
** The films may be shot in any format. However, the recommended aspect ratios are : 16:9 / 16:9 Full Height Anamorphic – in DV / HDV.
** The recommended video files formats are VOB, MPG, MPEG4 or AVI.

** In making your Film, you must have (1) obtained appropriate releases for every person who appears recognizably in your Film; (2) obtain appropriate releases for those locations that appear recognizably in your film and require releases. You will retain any such releases and provide them to the organisers upon request.

** The Film must not contain any copyrighted works belonging to third parties unless (1) you have a license to use such works in the Film; or (2) the use your Film makes of such works is a fair one under the copyright laws. You will retain any licenses and provide them to organisers upon request.

Prizes :
** The Top 3 winning films will be screened at the River to River Festival in Italy in December 2015.
** Winning films will be screened on the show ‘Prime Talkies with Pocket Films’ on NDTV Prime (Conditions Apply).

** All Participating films (subject to terms and approval by the Pocket Films content team) will be distributed by Pocket Films entitling the participant to a share in the revenue as detailed in the terms and conditions. This is applicable to all participating films and not just the nominated or winning films.

Last Dates :
** The contest will be open from 15th September 2015
** The last date for submission is 21st October 2015

THE GENERAL TERMS OF PARTICIPATION:
** Participation to the contest implies that the Participant is the owner / rights holder of the content and is authorised to participate in the contest.

** Only the person who signs / submits the entry will be considered as the “Participant”. In case it is a team effort, then the team will have to select a representative who will be the participant. All communications from our end as well as the benefits, if any, will be only with/to the Participant.

** Transfer, assignment or substitution of the prizes / benefits to a person other than the participant, will not be permitted. However, in exceptional cases the organisers reserve the right to entertain such request at their discretion.
** The decision of the jury shall be final, unquestionable and binding on all participants.
** Pocket Films may reject any film without assigning any reason whatsoever and the same cannot be challenged.
** Once submitted the entries cannot be withdrawn for any reason whatsoever.
** All materials, documents, etc. submitted for participation shall not be returned under any circumstances and shall become the property of Pocket Films.
** The participant agrees that the organisers shall not be held responsible for any unauthorised use of the entries by any third party and Pocket Films do not guarantee the posting of any entry.

** To the fullest extent permissible by applicable law, the Organisers shall not be liable for any economic losses, loss of goodwill or reputation or special, indirect or consequential losses (whether or not such losses were within the contemplation of the Participant and us at the date of the upload/submission of the Entry for the contest) suffered or incurred by the Participant arising out of or in connection with these Official Rules and Terms. The Organisers’ aggregate collective liability arising from or relating to the contest and/or these Official Rules and Terms (and whether the liability arises because of breach of contract, negligence or for any other reason) shall be limited to INR 10000/-.

** The scheduling, timetable and screening of the winners’ films shall be at the discretion of the festival
** The scheduling and screening of the festival shall be at the discretion of Pocket Films and / or NDTV Prime. Their decision in this regard will be final and binding and not open to debate or discussion.
** The headings to each section are for reference and easier reading and shall not affect the meaning of the terms as mentioned herein.
** Entry and participation of films implies unconditional acceptance of these terms and regulations.
** Pocket Films’ decision in all matters pertaining to this contest and distribution terms herein shall be final and binding in all respects.
