VHF Hill Topping And National Field Day

Objective

** Promote hams to go out to remote places such as hills, beaches etc. and establish stations to communicate with other hams in the country. This can be treated by individuals as emergency preparedness, serious contest, and experimentation of antennas or just picnic with friends. However, winning the contest will require smart search of the locations and preparations.

Rules

1. Any number of teams can be participating from a single Grid Square. Such team should internally sort out on the exact station location. ARSI will not intervene in any issues surfacing due to team conflicts

2. ARSI contest manger should be informed of Team details 30 days in advance. Team details to include GridSquare location, modes of operation, Team members.

3. Responsibility of taking temporary change of location license from WPC will be with the individual teams. ARSI Website now has writeup on how-to acquire the temporary change of QTH permission based on the past experiences. Teams should consider WPC processing period which is typically around 3-6 weeks.

4. WPC permission scan copy should be sent to Contest Manager along atleast one week prior to the event.
5. Each station should take local authority permission to operate and make their own arrangement to stay. Local authority permission and stay is the responsibility of the team and not ARSI

6. Only licensed change of location station can log the contact. And only one callsign should be used for the team. For Example: VU2XE, VU2GRM, VU3NXI apply for Tumkur Hills address change with WPC and get their permission. While in the contest, only leader call which has been declared to the contest manager in advance should be used for the station by all the operators. If there are any other call enters in the contest log from that location, that log entry will not be counted.

7. Though challenge is for HF and VHF, 6m and UHF contacts is promoted. Each of these are considered a separate category. i.e. all of HF (160m, 80m,40m,20m,15m,10m) is considered one category, 6m is another.. Team can chose to enter into only one category or multiple categories.

8. multiplier points :
I. VHF, UHF and 6m contacts earns 2 QSO points for each GridSquares they have contact with ( other than their own gridsquare)
II. For HF, each QSO with DX country is considered as 2 QSO point

III. No points for contacting via terrestrial repeaters
IV. Solar or Battery operated station will earn multiplier of 2 on their total score
V. Station staying outdoors with camping gears will receive multiplier of 2 on their total score. Proof of should be submitted with photos.

VI. Stations placing Ham Radio promotion banner and inviting school children or VIP guests will receive 25 points. To qualify for the points, Team should send photos of the station with the guests along with log.

9. Stations operating from home will be considered under a different (Home Station) category.
10. QSO via satellites is encouraged and considered as in a special category. Teams making satellite QSOs should place a note in front of the logged record showing Satellite name.
11. Log submission will be due in a week time from the contest. All logs should be converted to computer readable format and sent. No paper logs will be accepted.

12. Lead call for the station should be of ARSI member. Any other non ARSI member can participate in the contest as team member with appropriate change of location permission. However, station identification should be only with ARSI member call.

13. Stations should exchange and log gridsquare of the location for VHF, UHF and 6 mtrs.
14. On HF bands (160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10) exchanges are normal signal (RST) reports

Special Note :
** Depending on the interest and logs received in this format, ARSI Contest Manager may decide and may announce additional field day.
