Vel Tech Easy Ride Design Competition

Vel Tech , Chennai joins hands with French Embassy in India to organize the Easy Ride – Prototype and Design Competition on the occasion of Bonjour India to create a forum for young minds to showcase their potential and creativity.

Eligibility

Students Pursuing Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. / BCA / B.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. / MCA / M.Sc.

Guidelines For Abstract Submission

The abstract may broadly include:
** The Idea/ Concept which has to be original or adapted from an existing concept, if adapted, bring out the changes in the adaptation.
** A brief outline of the Concept design and execution methodology.
** Brief on expected results from the design initiative, though actual results may not be available at the time of submitting the abstract.
** Whether the idea/concept will result in S/W and H/W design or else it will result in prototype / Breadboard model.
** Usefulness to the community and marketing potential if any to be highlighted.
** Any other aspect which can be highlighted.

Selection Process

** Applications are invited under either Prototype or Design Stream.
** All Engineering / Technical Projects under the given theme are eligible for this competition.
** Submitted projects will be reviewed by a committee of experts and will be shortlisted.
** Shortlisted projects will be informed through e-mail / published in our website for participation in the competition.
** On the day of event, shortlisted participants under prototype stream has to demonstrate their prototype and the shortlisted participants under design stream has to design their concept at Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR Convocation Centre during 22-23 Jan 2018.
** The juries would evaluate the projects following a standard rubrics.

Prizes

Best three projects of each stream i.e. Prototype as well as Design will get prizes as below

** First Prize: Rs. 30,000 per theme + Certificate + Trophy
** Second Prize: Rs. 25,000 per theme + Certificate + Trophy
** Third Prize: Rs. 20,000 per theme + Certificate + Trophy

Registration

** Participants are requested to fill the online registration form and attach their project abstract on or before 5th January 2018.
** The project abstract on receipt will be screened by a committee and shortlisted for participation allocating a project reference number to each shortlisted project.
** Shortlisted projects will be informed through e-mail / published in our website for participation in the competition.
** On receipt of email on shortlisting, the students should immediately make the payment.
** Registration Fee is Rs.1500 per team of 3 members, and for additional member Rs.1000 each.
** Payment can be done either by online payment mode by clicking the payment link or through Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology” payable at Chennai and may be sent by post.

Benefits of Participation

** Apart from awards, innovative projects have the opportunity to get incubation support financially up to Rs.6.5 lakhs from Vel Tech Technology Business Incubator.
** Students get an opportunity to showcase their projects directly to the companies visiting the Exhibition leading to enhancement of technical knowledge, its application in industry and further scope for improvement making the project viable for commercialization.
** The visiting industries are prone to provide employment to students after seeing their Projects and their communication skill.
** Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology will help the students to file the patents for the best project.
** Projects with innovative ideas which can be commercialized will be supported by Vel Tech MSME / TBI.
