PONDICHERRY UNIVERSITY INTER SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION (ATTAM-18) 15-16 March 2018

General Rules

(Applicable to both Classical and Folk Dances)
1. Dean of School is the responsible authority to select the Dance team (one per Dance).
2. School has to send only one team for each dance; short listing of teams may be done at the school level itself.
3. Dance Team should consists of minimum 2 and maximum 8 students.
4. Dance team of particular school should consists of students from that school; not from other school.
5. Only 5 minutes for actual performance will be given plus 2 minutes for occupying and vacating the stage.
6. Dance team will be disqualified if it delays to enter or vacate the stage within 2 minutes.
7. Audio CD must be handed over to the Professor coordinator half an hour before their performance.
8. Dance team must be present in the hall half an hour before their performance.
9. Dance team should register in prescribed format for the competition on or before 09.03.2018 with the signature of respective Dean.
10. It is the responsibility of the Dance team to collect the order of performance from the Professor coordinator in the previous day of the performance.
11. Date, Time and Place of particular dance will published in the University website on 12.03.2018.
12. Dance team is responsible for their costumes, accessories, properties and other requirements.
13. Decision of Judges is final; no appeal is allowed.

Additional Rules for Classical Dance

1. Fusion of classical Dance forms in performance is allowed to the maximum of three only.

2. Criteria of Judging the performance (To be followed by Judges):
Costume and Make up 5 Marks
Creative aspects of the performance 5 Marks
Exploration to the theme of the song / music 10 Marks
Choreography 15 Marks
Overall Quality of the performance 15 Marks
Total 50 Marks

Costume and make-up: Appearance of a particular classical form should be followed
Creative aspects of the performance: Logical & meaningful additions ( if any ) in the performance
Exploration to the theme of the song / music: Interpretation to theme of the song / music
Choreography: Effective use of space and timing in relation with group (VISUAL) movements
Overall Quality of the performance: Loyal to the spirit of the Classical dance form in the performance

Additional Rules for Folk Dance

1. Fusion of Folk Dance forms in performance is allowed to the maximum of three only.

2. Criteria of Judging the performance (To be followed by Judges):
Get-up with Folk Costume 5 Marks
Folk aspects of the performance 5 Marks
Exploration of Folk music into the performance 10 Marks
Choreography 15 Marks
Overall spirit of the performance 15 Marks
Total 50 Marks

Get-up with Folk Costume: Appearance of a particular Folk form in dress code should be followed
Folk aspects of the performance: Additions of folk aspects to enrich the performance
Exploration of Folk music into the performance: selection of folk music/Rhythm pattern
Choreography: Effective use of space and timing in relation with group (VISUAL) movements and music
Overall spirit of the performance: Bringing a spirit of folk experience in dance through music
