As part of its ‘Awareness Programme on Indian Foreign Policy’, Indian Council of World Affairs announces the third edition of ICWA Essay Competition.

The young writers this year have the opportunity to demonstrate their innovative thinking on the following topic
Junior Level (15-18 years) :
‘Why climate change is important for India’s Foreign Policy?’ – (1500 words).
Senior Level (18-25 years) :
‘Is India’s Foreign Policy an instrument for our development?’ – (2500 words).
Junior Level :
First Prize – Rs. 15000
Second Prize – Rs. 10000
Third Prize – Rs. 5000
Senior Level :
First Prize – Rs. 25000
Second Prize – Rs. 15000
Third Prize – Rs. 10000
How to Participate?
** The participants must be an enrolled student in a School or graduate/post graduate degree program in a College/University from anywhere across India.
** All Essays (soft copy only) should be sent to essayicwa [AT] gmail.com or be submitted on the MyGov portal latest by 30th JULY, 2018.
** The entries could be submitted in the form of a video also. The video must be uploaded on YouTube and its URL must be submitted in the comments section.
** The entries should be submitted along with a certificate from School/Institute/College/University where the participant is currently enrolled.
** A participant can send only one entry. The entry should be original.
** The entries should include a separate cover page carrying the following personal information
1) Name of the participant
2) Father/Mother Name
4) Name and Address of School/College/ University
5) Residence Address
6) Mobile & Landline Numbers and
7) Email Address
** The participant should submit the written entries in .PDF file format only.
** Essay Text font would be only among three type 1. Book Antiqua, 2. Cambria 3. Times New Roman.
Terms & Conditions :
** Font size would be 12.
** Line spacing would be 1.15 only.
** Paper Margins – allow 1-inch margins on all four sides and justify text on both sides
** Number of Words – 1500 words for Junior level participants and 2500 words for Senior level category.
All the entries received within the due date will be placed before a Selection Committee for final selection. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding on all the contestants.
The essays will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria :
1. Central Theme (20%)
2. Coherence and Organization in Structure (20%)
3. Creativity (40%)
4. Clarity in Language, Expression and Style (20%)
