AARUUSH 15:
Aaruush is the annual national level techno-management fest of SRM University, Kattankulathur. Named after the first rays of the rising Sun, Aaruush captures the imagination of young minds, inspiring them to rise in the spirit of innovation.

Aaruush started its journey 2007 and has indeed come a long way. Its transformation from a technical fest to a techno-management fest made it stand apart from all the other run-of-the-mill tech fests. The events range from being technical to gaming, basic sciences and debating. Apart from the 40 plus events which form the crux of the fest, Aaruush has been serving its participants who come from places all over the country and the world with spectacular pro shows such as laser show, sand art and hand shadowgraphy to feast upon. Workshops in various technical fields from ethical hacking to forensics give one an idea of the wide range of interest coverage.

Guest lectures and Panel Discussions by eminent personalities such as Mr. Sunny Vaghela (Ethical Hacker), Dr. Richard Matthew Stallman (Free Software Foundation), Mr. Rajan Anandan (MD, Google India), Dr. Shankar K. Pal (Indian Statistical Institute), Mr. Benjamin Lionel, Dr. Varaprasad Reddy (Shanta Biotechnics), Mr. Suhas Gopinath (World’s youngest CEO), Ms. Rashmi Bansal (author) and many more and Unconferences on topics such as “Role of Advertising in our Lives” and “Beyond Engineering” have been providing forums for the students to learn as well as express their views on a variety of subjects.

The excitement of Aaruush is not limited to the span of four days it occurs, but begins much earlier with the Pre-Aaruush events such as Swastika- an inter-school quiz, Aaruush Educates- an attempt to expose school students from low income backgrounds to practical learning and the Aaruush Independence Day initiative. Themes such as “Aaruush for Conservation of Energy”, “Aaruush towards Sustainability” and “Aaruush towards Infinity” provide the organizing team and participants with a sense of direction with respect to the goals to be set and achieved for every edition of the fest.

With the support of organizations such as IEEE, European Southern Observatory (ESO) and ISTE and associations with NGOs like WWF, PeTA, HOPE Foundation, CRY and CIOSA, Aaruush strives to grow bigger and better every year. Aaruush has pioneered change not only in the dice of the regular mould but also in the mind sets of many a student. It is a way of life.
