Wingword Poetry Competition
Sponsored by Delhi Poetry Slam, Wingword Poetry Competition was created in 2017 with the aim to encourage people to make writing a habit and an art that needs to be sought. The competitions is open to all nationals across the globe. Anyone with the interest in writing can participate.

Wingword Prizes runs an annual poetry competition that accepts submissions from September to March every year. Prizes are awarded to those with exceptional talent in writing and a cumulative sum of INR 7 Lakh ( approx. 10,000 USD) is distributed among the winners of the competition each year.
Wingword Poetry Prize 2020 is open to entrants from all over the world holding any nationality.
There are three categories in which poets can participate
All those who write in poetry in English & Hindi, and over the age of 14 years are eligible to participate in the main category.
The first prize winner receives INR 1 Lakh Rupees and an exclusive book publication contract with DelSlam. Second prize winner receives INR 50,000 and the third prize winner receives INR 25,000.
Top 30 winners of the competition receive INR 10,000 each. All winners and 100 commendable mentions are published in Wingword’s poetry anthology. Participation Certificates are given to all participants of the competition.
Junior Category :
Children between the age of 7 to 14 years of age who write in English & Hindi are eligible to send their poems in this category.
The first prize winner receives INR 10,000 Rupees, the second prize winner receives INR 7,500 and the third prize winner receives INR 5,000. Top 10 winners of junior category receive INR 2,500 each. The winning poems are published in Wingword’s poetry anthology. Participation Certificates are given to all participants of the competition.
Persons over the age of 14 years who write in their mother tongues are eligible to participate in this category. There is no upper age limit to participate. Languages that are accepted in this category are Bengali, Assamese, Odiya, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati and Urdu.
The first prize winner receives INR 20,000 Rupees, the second prize winner receives INR 10,000 and the third prize winner receives INR 7,500. Top 10 winners of the regional category receive INR 3,000 each. Participation Certificates are given to all participants of the competition.
** 750 for one poem,
** 1500 for three poems,
** 2500 to submit five poems and
** 4000 to submit ten poems.
How To Enter?
1. It’s really simple. First you have to pay the entry fee.
2. Then, you will receive the online link to the submission form.
3. Add the poems in the form and click the submit button.
** In the Main Category we accept poems written in English and Hindi.
** In Regional Category we accept poems written in Indian languages such as Urdu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam or Telugu.
** In the Junior Category we accept poems written in English and Hindi.
** Poems must be originally written by you and should not be plagiarised from anyone.
** Any style and topic of poetry is accepted in the Wingword Poetry Competition.
** Your poem should be no longer than 1500 words excluding the title.
** You are allowed to submit multiple poems. Please pay the respective fees to enter.
** Previously published works are not allowed (whether in print or on the internet/social media)
** The competition begins on 1st September 2020.
** Early Deadline is October 31st 2020 at 23.59 IST.
** Result will be announced on April 30th, 12.00 IST
