Space Foundation Art Contest

The 11th Annual Space Foundation International Student Art Contest is now live and open for submissions. Student artists ages 3–18, are invited to participate by creating and submitting original, space-oriented artwork based on this year’s theme.

Theme

How Space Technology Helps Improve Life on Earth

Contest Period

The contest begins on September 2, 2020. The deadline to submit artwork is January 31, 2021 5:00pm MST.

Eligibility

** To be eligible to participate in the SPACE FOUNDATION ELEVENTH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ART CONTEST, you must satisfy the following criteria

i. be age of eighteen or younger (18); and
ii. have a teacher or parent/legal guardian who is over eighteen (18) years of age and will provide parental consent to enter the Contest and grant the rights set forth herein.

** Employees of Sponsor or its affiliates, advertising or promotion agencies, those involved in the production, development, implementation or handling of this Contest, any agents acting for, or on behalf of the above entities, their respective parent companies, officers, directors, subsidiaries, affiliates, service providers, prize suppliers, any other person or entity associated with Contest and/or members of their immediate families and/or persons living in the same household as such persons, whether or not related, are ineligible to enter the Contest.

How to Enter?

Steps :
** Register
** Confirm your account
** Gather student artwork
** Submit student artwork

Register :
Only Teachers, Parents, or Legal Guardians may register to submit artwork on behalf of their students. You must be at least 18 years old to register.

We’ll need your First Name, Last Name, Username, valid Email address, confirmation that you are the student’s teacher, parent or legal guardian, and confirmation that you are 18 years of age or older. You must also accept the contest terms and conditions.

Confirm Your Account Within 72 Hours :
Once you have registered, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your account. Artwork will not be accepted and logins will not function until you confirm your account via a valid email address.

If you do not see a confirmation email within 10 minutes after registering, be sure to check your spam box in case the confirmation email was delivered there.

Accounts that are not confirmed within 72 hours will automatically be cleared from the system, requiring you to re-register.

Gather Student Artwork :
All artwork must be submitted as a digital file, saved in either .jpg or .png formats. File size must be no larger than 10MB in size. File dimensions must be at least 2,400 pixels wide by 2,400 pixels tall.

Note :
** The image does not need to be square. The narrowest measurement must meet the minimum size requirements.
** We’ll also need your student’s first name only, age range, country, and state or province for each submitted piece of art.

Submit Student Artwork :
Go to the Artwork Submission page to upload your student’s art.

We review each piece of art before it is published on the website. This process could take up to three (3) days (72 hours) to complete. Check the “My Uploads” page to see if your submitted entries have been approved.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria
** Creativity and originality
** Quality and execution
** Adherence to the theme
** Overall impression

All winners get :
** An Art Kit
** Ribbon
** Certificate
** Astronaut Autograph

Winning artwork will be displayed on the Space Foundation website and at Space Foundation Headquarters and Discovery Center. It also will be viewed by space professionals from around the world during the 36th Space Symposium, August 22–26, 2021, at The Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.

Winners will be announced on or before April 22, 2021.
