What is Sony LIV QOTY Quizzer of the Year?

QOTY (“Quizzer of the Year”) is a multi-platform, general knowledge-based quiz contest for mass participation conducted by Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited. QOTY offers something for everyone, whether a parent, teacher, general public or students, it’s a one stop shop for every quiz and game enthusiast and knowledge hound. It consists of two thrilling activity verticals – QOTY Open Contest and the QOTY School Contest. The main component of the QOTY Open Contest is a year-long app-based daily quiz, QOTY DAILY which is open to all.

Eligibility of Quizzer of the Year Contest

** All participants must be Indian nationals residing in India.
** Students registering for the QOTY School Contest must be from bona fide schools and studying in classes 9-12 (or its equivalent in registered junior colleges) in the academic year 2023-24.
** Students must have access to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop/desktop computer (each of suitable OS and specifications required to download and operate the Sony LIV app) and a stable internet connection in order to participate.
** On behalf of minor contestants, parents/legal guardians must read and accept all Terms & Conditions of the contest (including the Privacy Policy) to facilitate participation. Any major contestants must accept the same on their own.
** On behalf of minor contestants, parents/legal guardians must read and accept the Terms of Use of the Sony Liv app (including the Privacy Policy) to participate. Any major contestants must accept the same on their own.

QOTY DAILY (App Quizzes, WebApp):
** Open to all including students reading in classes 9 to 12.
** There is no age limit to participate.
** These quizzes are for individual players.
** This contest vertical has no participation fee.

QOTY SELECT (App Quizzes, WebApp):
** Students of classes 9-12 who score a minimum of 500 points by a pre-announced cut-off date in QOTY Daily are eligible to play QOTY Select.

** Students are required to submit a participation fee of INR 100 in order to activate QOTY Select and become eligible for the QOTY School Contest (QOTY Select, QOTY City 1 & 2, QOTY Nationals). Students are advised to make the requisite payment on or before the last date ahead of the first appointed QOTY Select quiz.

** Students should broadly be in the 13-18 years age bracket as on 1st April 2023.
** Since the medium of conduct for the QOTY School Contest is English, students should be proficient in the same.

QOTY CITY:
** Students qualifying for QOTY City must have access to a smartphone and a laptop/desktop computer equipped with video-conferencing peripherals (camera, speakers/headphones, and microphone), pre-installed Kahoot App, Zoom App, and a stable internet connection good enough to support these.

** The parents/guardians of students entering QOTY City 1 & 2 must consent to their wards using the Kahoot App and Zoom App for participation in QOTY City 1 & 2, and all subsequent rounds of the QOTY School Contest, should they qualify.

** QOTY City – 2 onwards, participation of individuals/teams will be subject to School Principals submitting verified documents (as listed in the Terms & Conditions document) by email (using the official email ID of the school/principal) to the organizers on or before the cut-off date as communicated in the selection intimation email.

How to Register for Quizzer of the Year Contest?

Registration for QOTY Daily, Select and Specials contest can be done on the SonyLIV app on an individual basis.
Please follow the below to complete the registration using the SonyLIV app –
i. Download the SonyLIV app from the application store. Please note, the download of the app is free of cost, however data charges may apply. For further details on data charges, please contact your service provider.
ii. On SonyLIV, select the ‘Quizzer of the Year’ (QOTY) banner/ thumbnail to start with the registration.
iii. Register under ‘General’ or ‘Class 9-12 Student’ as applicable.
iv. Enter your mobile number. Please note that we will be able to get in touch with you only if the mobile number you have shared is registered with the service provider in India.
v. Enter your First name, Last name, email id and city details.
vi. Select your DOB/age from the options provided.
vii. Choose your gender.
viii. In case of a student, enter your class and school details.
ix. Complete the registration by reading and accepting the Terms and Conditions towards the participation of the Contest. Provide further consents as may be displayed (this is not mandatory).

Contest Structure of QOTY Quizzer of the Year

The format of QOTY is divided into multiple selection levels as described below
1) QOTY Daily:
** Post registration on the SonyLIV app, Participants can attempt the quizzes run by Culver Max from April 09, 2023 onwards.
** Participation in this round is open to all citizens residing in India.

2) QOTY Select:
** The Participants studying in Class 9-12 in the academic year 2023-24 who have scored a minimum of 500 points in the QOTY Daily quizzes between April 09, 2023 to November 30, 2023 will be eligible.
** Culver Max may decide to levy a participation fee towards appearing in the QOTY Select round as it deems fit. QOTY select quiz round will be help between December 01, 2023, to December 10, 2023

3) QOTY City -1:
** The top 1,000 Participants from each City-Zone basis the highest scores will participate in the City-1 round.
** In the event there are less than 1,000 Contestants in a particular City Zone, Culver Max will select the Contestants basis a cut-off score as they deem fit.
** The quiz will be held between December 20, 2023 and January 01, 2024, concurrently for all the Participants on a video call using the Zoom/Kahoot app.

4) QOTY City-2:
** On the basis of the leaderboard ranking in the QOTY City 1 round the schools that the top 16 highest scoring Contestant(s) from each City Zone are representing will be contacted to form teams comprising of two members each. Each City Zone will comprise of eight teams in total. The top 8 teams from each City Zone will qualify to participate in the City-2 round.

** The quiz will be held between January 08, 2024 and January 20, 2024, concurrently for all the Participants on a video call using the Zoom/Kahoot app on the dates as communicated by Culver Max.
** The format will be driven by a host and comprise of four buzzer rounds with 34 questions in each round.

5) QOTY Nationals :
** The winning team from the QOTY City – 2 round from each City Zone will qualify for the National round conducted between February 15, 2024 and February 27, 2023.
** The National Finalists will compete in 4 prelim rounds. The top 4 teams from the prelim rounds will qualify for the semi final round and the top 2 teams from the semi final round shall make it to the final round.
** The National Finalists will have to travel to a prescribed city as communicated by Culver Max for the episode recordings in a studio setup as per the recording schedules in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.

What are the Dates of each of the Quiz Rounds?

QOTY Daily: April 09, 2023, onwards. [For QOTY Select the cut-off score will be considered from April 09, 2023, to November 30, 2023]
QOTY Select: December 01, 2023, to December 10, 2023
QOTY City – 1: December 20, 2023, to January 01, 2024
QOTY City – 2: January 08, 2024, to January 20, 2024
QOTY Nationals: February 15, 2024, to February 27, 2024
Super Sixer Quiz : October 15, 2023, to November 23, 2023
