Kutuhal 2016 Science Quiz Competition :

‘Kutuhal’ mean Curiosity / Intrigue. The preliminary round will be of 60 minutes exam covering biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

A school can register any number of teams for the preliminary round.

Preliminary Round:

1. Only students who are presently enrolled in Class 8 and Class 9 can take part in this quiz competition.

2. You can participate in one of two ways:
A. Get your school to nominate a team of two students (currently in class 8th/9th)
B. Find a partner from your school (both should be in class 8th/9th) and register directly on our website.

Note:
In both cases, when you come for the quiz, you MUST bring your valid school Ids and a bonafide certificate signed by your school principal and with the school stamp. The bonafide certificate format can be downloaded from the link Bonafide given on home page

3. If you would like to participate with a friend who is in a different school – sorry, we cannot accommodate that.
4. Each team should consist of only two members.
5. Both members of a team MUST be students of the same school.
6. A school may register ANY number of teams consisting of two students per team.
7. The teams must register online using the following link: goo.gl/C18vjx
8. Last Date for online registration is Thursday, 24 December 2015.
9. Incomplete forms and forms with invalid entries will not be accepted. Each participant of the registered team must carry his/her valid school ID card and a bonafide certificate duly signed by the principal and carrying the stamp of the school on the day of the competition.
10. Teams without the valid school ID card and original Bonafide certificate will not be permitted to participate in the competition.
11. There is NO entry fee for this competition.
12. Schools having NO access to internet can come in person at our office and register their teams latest by Thursday, 24 December 2015. A hard copy of the bonafide certificate format will be provided to them in person after registration.
13. The preliminary round will be held on 9th January 2016 (Saturday) at Lecture Hall Complex (LHC), IISER-Pune from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The results shall be declared on the same day at 2:30 pm at the venue.
14. All teams must report to the venue by 10:00 am sharp on the day of the competition.
15. All participants in the prelims shall receive participation certificates.
16. The top four teams from four different schools selected through the preliminary round shall proceed to the finals. No school shall have more than one team in the finals, irrespective of their performance in the prelims.

Final Rounds:

1. The finals will take place on the same day at LHC, IISER-Pune from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

2. The prize money for the competition will be as follows:
Champions : Rs 3000 each + trophy + mementos + certificates
Runners Up: Rs 2000 each + mementos + certificates
III and IV place holders: Rs 1000 per team + certificates

3. Decision of the quiz master and judges will be final and binding on the participants.
4. Exciting Science Group, Pune reserves all the rights to add/modify the rules.
5. The prize distribution will be held at 5:15 pm in the hands of a distinguished guest.

General Rules:

1. The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments during the competition.
2. Audience shall not give any hints or clues to the competitors.
3. Replacement of any participant of a team is not allowed after registration. In case of absenteeism of one participant from the registered team, the remaining participant has to compete as a team.
4. Any requests for swapping of participants within the teams from a particular school will not be permitted after the Last Date for registration. You can re-register till the last date (midnight of Thursday, 24 December 2015) by sending an email to register@excitingscience.org (with Subject line: Request for re-registration for Science Quiz Competition) and clearly stating in the email that you are re-registering for the competition. After that, change in team composition is not possible.
5. The organizers retain the right to make any changes in the event, its format, and rules and in any matter related to this event, at any time before or during the event.
6. Once you register for the event you indicate your acceptance that the decision of the organizers and quizmaster will be final and binding on all issues related to the Science Quiz competition and no correspondence in this regard would be entertained.
7. The medium of communication for this Quiz will be only English.
8. The organisers will not cover any travel/food or any other costs incurred by the teams, their schools/parents/guardians towards participating in the competition.
9. Teams must carry their own lunch boxes on the day of the competition. Teams can also avail the option of buying lunch from IISER-Pune Cafeteria.

1. Registration on or before: 24th December 2015, Thursday
2. Preliminary round and Final Rounds: 9th January 2016, Saturday
