A world of opportunities for photographers to showcase their skills

Nature inFocus Photographer of the Year:
Submit a series of 6 to 10 photographs that together tell a powerful story. Whether it’s a compelling conservation story or a unique observation from the natural world, let the images tell a story.

Animal Behaviour:
Nature is always at work, often in ways we rarely see. Capture animal behaviours that are unexpected, seldom witnessed, or simply captivating. These are moments that remind us how much there is still to learn.

Animal Portraits:
Go beyond the surface and capture an animal’s essence. Through mood, expression, or gaze, let your photograph offer a glimpse into the animal’s character, personality or emotion.

Ramki Sreenivasan Conservation Photography Award:
In memory of Ramki Sreenivasan, this category honours photographs that shed light on conservation. Submit images that raise awareness, inspire thought, and tell urgent or hopeful stories about protecting nature.

Creative Nature Photography:
Push the boundaries of how we experience nature through your lens. Experiment with technique, composition, or visual storytelling to create fresh and imaginative interpretations of the wild.

Wildscape & Animals in Their Habitat:
Celebrate the relationship between animal and environment. Frame wildlife within the wider landscape to show how they move through, survive in, and shape the spaces they call home.

Young Photographer:
Open to photographers aged 17 and below, this category invites young storytellers to share how they see the natural world, whether through behaviour, conservation, or a creative lens.

Himalayas on the Edge:
The Indian Himalayan region is at risk. Show us what we’re leaving behind – the waste, the pollution, the wildlife lost in the careless trail of human presence.

How To Participate in the Nature inFocus Photography Contest?

** Submissions can be made only via the competition website: natureinfocus.in/wildlife-photography-contest
** Submissions are open from Wednesday, April 15, 2026, till Sunday, May 31, 2026.
** The competition will close at 11:59 PM (India Time – UTC + 05:30) on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
** For the Himalayas on the Edge category, ensure that the images are taken in the Indian Himalayan Region. Images should show the waste and wildlife.
** A non-refundable registration fee of ₹1600 + 18% GST is applicable for adults for these 7 categories.
** Cancellation and withdrawals/refunds are not allowed once the registration process is completed.
** One can upload up to 35 photographs in categories 1-6, with no restrictions on the number of images in each category. The participant can upload all 35 images in one category, or divide them across categories as they please.
** In category 7, Nature inFocus Photographer of the Year, one can upload a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 images that tell a story about our natural world. The images have to work together as a set, both aesthetically and as a photo story, by focusing on a specific topic, theme or style.
** For the Young Photographer category, solely for participants who are 17 and under, non-refundable registration fee of ₹800 + 18% GST is applicable
** In the Young Photographers category, the participant can upload up to 15 photographs.
** For the final round of judging in the Young Photographer category, the organisers will contact the participants for documents to establish proof of age.
