What is Vanitha Chef of Kerala Cooking Contest?

The Chef of Kerala Contest is a cooking competition that invites participants to showcase their culinary talent by preparing and sharing their favourite Kerala recipes. The contest is open to both men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 years. Participation in the contest is completely free. Shortlisted participants will be contacted through the phone number provided during registration. You need to submit your entries before 31st of August.

Prizes of Vanitha Chef of Kerala Cooking Contest

Selection:
Contestants will be invited to the designated venue in their respective zone and will have to cook their dish in front of the officials. The contestant must bring utensils suitable for the induction cooktops provided for cooking. It is the contestant’s responsibility to bring the necessary utensils, main ingredients, and spices for cooking, serving, and displaying.

Top chefs and an all-female editorial panel will evaluate the recipes submitted and select 15 contestants for the prelims/semi-finals in each zone. The selection will be based on the variety and attractiveness of the dishes. The 15 contestants selected from the semi-finals will compete head-to-head in the grand finale for the title of ‘Eastern Chef of Kerala’.

A panel of leading chefs and culinary experts will judge the quality of the dishes based on four factors:
** Taste – The overall harmony and balance between taste and smell.
** Presentation – the visual appeal, formality/professionalism in the presentation of dishes
** Practicality – How beautifully and practically the dish was prepared within the time limit
** Hygiene – The cleanliness and hygiene of the workstation during and after cooking will be inspected.
