What is Kerala Wildlife Week Celebrations Reel Contest?

Wildlife Week Celebrations Reel Contest 2026 is organised by Kerala Forest Department. This Contest is open to any Indian citizen irrespective of their age. The theme of the contest is “The reel should be related to “Living in Harmony with Nature-, framed in the State of Kerala”. There is no entry fee for the contest. Last date of contest is 30th September, 2026.

Eligibility of Kerala Wildlife Week Celebrations Reel Contest

This Contest is open to any Indian citizen irrespective of their age. Employees and associates of Kerala Forest Department (KFD) which includes the staff of KFD and its subsidiaries and affiliates and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, children, siblings, and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

How To Enter in the Kerala Wildlife Week Celebrations Reel Contest?

There is no entry fee for the contest. The contestant shall participate by submitting an entry in the prescribed Registration Form and Affidavit duly filled in along with the reel should be sent to wlwreel2026gmail.com during the Contest Period. The prescribed format of the Registration Form and Affidavit can be downloaded from the website of the KFD www.forest.kerala.gov.in.

The reel submitted along with the registration form, affidavit and copy of the identity card showing photo and address of the contestant should meet all the Technical specifications as mentioned in clause 9 (Serial number 9).

Entries not in the prescribed Registration Form and Affidavit and not in accordance to the prescribed technical specifications shall be summarily rejected. If a contestant use any fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent any of the terms and conditions, the entry shall be disqualified. The decision of the Chief Wildlife Warden shall be final in this regard.

Language of the Film:
The language of the film shall be in English or Malayalam. No other language will be accepted.

Period of Production:
Entries produced in 2026 only will be accepted. 8. Entry limits: Each participant will be allowed to submit only one entry in this contest.

Technical specifications of the reel entries:
Length and format of the reel: The length of the reel should be between 30 to 60 seconds. Any camera including mobile phone can be used for filming. All music, sound effects, or background audio must be royalty-free or legally licensed.

Format:
MP4 or MOV (H.264 or HEVC/H.265 codec recommended for optimal playback).

Orientation and Aspect ratio:
Vertical orientation (9:16 aspect ratio; recommended dimensions: I 080 x1920 pixels). Resolution: Full LID (1080×1920) minimum; or Higher up to 4K (2160×3840) preferred. Frame Rate: Standard 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps. Constant Frame Rate (CFR) is recommended to prevent audio-sync issues

Audio Format:
Stereo mix or higher (AAC, 16-bit, 48 kHz) Audio Clarity: Clear background music or natural wildlife sounds. Voiceovers/ narration (if present) must be easily audible over background tracks. Equipment: Open to all capture devices (smanphones, DSLRs, mirrorless, action cameras, or drones).

Mode (medium) of submission of entries:
The final reel file alongwith the duly signed PDF of the Registration Form and Affidavit in the prescribed format should be submitted in the contestant’s Google drive account and the link shared to wlwree12026Qgmail.com. Set the folder sharing permission to “Anyone with the link can view” (or directly permit w1wree12026@gmail.com with “Can view” access). Ensure restriction settings do not block file downloading for judging.

Note:
1. All submitted entries must accurately represent the natural world in a manner that is creative, truthful, and ethical. Any manipulation is strictly prohibited.
2. Entries must not mislead the viewer or attempt to misrepresent the reality of nature. \ All provided caption information must be comprehensive, truthful, and accurate. The reels depicting captive, restrained, manipulated animals, animal models, taxidermy specimens, or any other animal being exploited for profit are strictlyprohibited.
3. The Participants are prohibited from causing hann or distress to an animal or damaging its habitat in an attempt to secure a photograph. The welfare of the animal must always be prioritized.
4. Baiting is not permitted, nor in any form of baiting that may endanger an animal or adversely affect its behaviour, either directly or through irresponsible habituation. Any other means of attraction, including bird seed or scent and attracting wildlife using calls, are not permitted.

Prizes of Kerala Wildlife Week Celebrations Reel Contest

The First, Second and Third prize winners will be awarded a Cash Prize of Rs.7,500, Rs.4,500 and Rs.2,500 respectively (subject to pending Govt. orders), along with a Certificate of Recognition. In addition, Certificates of Merit will be awarded to three entries as a consolation prize. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted.

Entries for the Wildlife Reel Contest, 2026 will be accepted from 20th September, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to 30th September, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (Last date). Late entries shall be summarily rejected.
