Wiki Loves Food Wikipedia Photo Contest 2015:
Wiki Loves Food (WLF) is a public photo competition on Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikimedia India Chapter will be running this contest. For this year, the aim of this project is to improve the quality of pictures of different cuisines of the Indian sub-continental region.

The contest is to celebrate Indian Cuisine’s diversity and beauty. Any photograph related to food in India can be entered.

This is a ONE TIME contest, at this moment, to educate people about and promote donating images to Commons on a national scale. India has a vibrant photography community and we hope to significantly increase Indian Food related photographs on Commons through this contest campaign. Through this campaign, more people will access and contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects.

Prizes:
We are giving cash prizes.
1st Prize – INR 20,000
** 2nd Prize – INR 15,000
** 3rd prize – INR 10,000
** Community Award – INR 5,000

The Community Prize of the photo contest will be decided by Community members from Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and social media related to Wikimedia projects which will choose from the top 10 images (apart from the 3 prize winning entries) selected by the official jury

While this is not mandatory, it will help us to track prize winners easily. So, we request all the contestants to provide their contact information here. All these data will be stored privately and will not be shared with anyone.

How to upload pictures?:
** You can upload pictures using our special upload wizard for this contest. Using this wizard, all pictures will be automatically added under Category:Images from Wiki Loves Food 2015. If you are using the regular upload wizard or other upload programs, please make sure to add Category:Images from Wiki Loves Food 2015. Images not having this category won’t be counted for the contest.
** To upload pictures, you will need a user account in Wikimedia projects. If you do not have one yet, please create a new user account here. Please note that new user accounts will be allowed to upload pictures only after 4 days from creating the account. So, please do sign up at once !
** You can upload as many pictures you can. We encourage to upload many pictures regarding various Indian food instead of the same food item in various angles. If possible, you can give preference for food items that don’t have a picture already in Wikimedia Commons.

For example, to check if images regarding Laddu are already present, you can do a Google image search as below:
If an image already exists, try to upload a better image as that will get more usage in our Wikimedia projects. You can also check various Indian food item names here and upload images regarding them.

Final Last Date for submission:
You may submit images for this contest to Wikimedia Commons until 15th June 2015 23.59 IST.

Wiki Loves Food is largely organized by volunteers, and the organizers reserve the right to modify these rules or to cancel the contest at their sole discretion, even after it has started. The organizers accept no responsibility for the provision by the sponsors of any prizes, nor of any liability whatsoever in respect of this contest. Neither the rules nor anything on these pages amount to an offer to create legally binding relations with any of the organizers. Members of the jury of Wiki Loves Food and trustees/staff of Wikimedia India are not eligible to receive any award (although they are otherwise welcome to contribute images).
