Declamation Contest:

You will be glad to know that Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu shall be organizing 7th Annual Inter-State (Northern Zone) Declamation Contest for the Silver Rolling Trophy Instituted by Hon’ble Governor of J&K, Sh. N.N.Vohra on 25th of November, 2016, in the College Auditorium.

In view of the above it is requested to select best team of your college comprising of two students or one student from your college who can be paired with any other student of any other institution from your state and an accompanying teacher, for the above said event, to represent your state.

The proposed theme for the Declamation Event is as follows:
“Is practice of liberal values the only way to end the politics of hate and harm?”

The name of selected students may please be communicated to the undersigned latest by 12th of November, 2016.

Facilities For The Participating Teams:
1. Boarding and lodging will be provided by the Host College. The accommodation will be available from a day before the contest to a day after the contest.
2. All meals shall be provided to the participating teams.
3. Separate accommodation arrangements will be made for girls and boys. Accompanying teachers shall be provided standard rooms on twin sharing basis.
4. Two way train fare by 2nd class sleeper or Bus fare, by shortest route from the place of college to the venue will be reimbursed for each participant and teacher incharge.
5. The name of the speakers and teacher incharge may be communicated to the organizers as per proforma attached.
6. A trip to world famous Holy cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi can be arranged for the interested teams.
7. Teams reaching Jammu by rail/bus will be provided with transport facility on request from bus stand/railway station.

About The Venue:
The host college is on the NH IA (4 km) from Satwari Airport, 2 km from both bus stand and railway station. The weather in Jammu during the event will be cold, with temperature ranging from 150 to 200C. Warm clothing is required.

Rules For Declamation Contest:
1. The maximum time allowed will be 6 minutes. The warning bell shall sound after 5 minutes and the final bell after 6 minutes.
2. If a candidate fails to present himself/herself after his/her name is announced, he/she will be marked absent.
3. The participant will not be allowed to read out his/her speech. Paper reading will not be allowed.
4. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding upon all.
5. Any act of indiscipline on the part of the participant(s) during the contest shall tantamount to disqualification.
6. Marks will be deducted if the candidate discloses the name of his/her college or state on the stage.
7. Prize winners, including winners and runners-up, of the previous contests shall not be eligible.
