Standard-VI:

Experiment:- 1)
Three sets (A, B, C) of apparatus are kept in front of you. Mixture of camphor and salt is given.

a) Which set of apparatus has to be used to seprate substances from above mixture?
b) State the name of the method used.

Experiment:- 2)
a) Note the level of water given in measuring cylinder.
b) Dip given bunch of five beads in this water and note the level of water.
c) From above observations find total volume of five beads.
d) Calculate volume of each bead.

Experiment:- 3)
Write the names of vitamins that we get from the substances A, B, C as follows.


Experiment:- 4)
A scale is kept on a table with its end (A) fixed with table by a tape. Do not move it. A thread is tied on the other end of the scale (B) pick up the scale kept at with the thread along with the substance by about 2 cms. Put the scale back in the original position. Answer following questions.

a) Write the positions of fulcrum, load and effort in this experiment. scale heat and with the thread along
b) Which type of lever is this?
c) Move the substance from X to Y and pick up the scale again. For which positionof substance you require more force to lift it?

Experiment:- 5)
Three solution are given in beakers A, B, C. Pieces of pink and blue papers are also given.

a) Put one piece of pink paper in each beaker and note in which solution / solutions colour of paper changes.
b) Repeat the above procedure using blue paper. From above observations write which two solutions are of the same type.

Experiment:- 6)
A hook is tied to a rubber thread on the table. Let us say that the end point of the hook is ‘A’. Scale is kept behind the rubber thread. Note the reading of point ‘A’ and write it in your answer sheet. Now hang the bottle kept on the table to the hook. Again note the reading of ‘A’ in your answer sheet.

Observe Table:
The reading of ‘A’ before hanging bottle___________cm.
The reading of ‘A’ after hanging bottle __________cm.

Answer the following questions :
a) What is the effect of hanging the bottle on length of the rubber thread?
b) Which type of force causes the above effect?

Experiment:- 7)
Given A and B are which part of the plant and also note their special function.


Experiment:- 8)
a) Observe the solution A and B.
b) Put a piece of filter paper.
c) Put two drops of solutions A and B at the same point on it.
d) Observe the change occured in the paper and note it on the answer paper as observation 1.
e) Oberserve the solution C.
f) On the another filter paper put 2 drops of solution C.
g) Note the change in the filter paper as obsevation 2.
h) State whether the changes taken place in the observation 1 and 2 are chemical or physical change.
i) Write your answer as follows.

Classify substances A, B, C, D, E, F into biodegradable and non degradable.

Standard VI – Sample Practicals:
** Some soil and soaked pulses are put in a sieve and the sieve is placed on a stand. In which direction the sprouts will come out of the pulses? Why?

** Measure the oscillations of the pendulum per minute using the given instrument.
** Bounce the given balls from a same height. Which ball bouncing more? State the reason.
** Identify the most and least powerful magnet.
** Identify the lever used in the machine.
** Identify the energy conversion in the working of the toy.


** Which of the following objects can be used to produce biogas? (Specimen – Plastic flowers, paper flowers, real flowers)
** Observe the given specimen and identify the labeled parts ( Parts of digestive system of a rat)
** Form appropriate food chains using the correct animals. Each chain must contain at least three animals.
** Observe the given specimen. Find out the average number of plants per unit (Total number of plants/number of units of the container).
** Observe the given table and answer the questions.( Ex. Table of vaccination for a newborn and questions based on it)
** Observe the given specimens and fill in the blanks .( samples of Shark and Bangda and questions based on their structure like size of scales, position of mouth, shape of tail etc.)
** Observe the samples of fruits, flowers, stems, leaves and answer the questions or match the columns.
** Draw a simple diagram of the given specimen and label the ……. ( Fins of fish, calyx of hibiscus, spines of Opuntia etc)
