Space Kidz India YSI Competition

Young Scientist India is an innovation competition to promote science awareness among high school students’, to increase their understanding of science, and to attract them into scientific careers and explore, as there is a BIG VACUUM in the enrolment of young scientists in our research centers.

The YSI Competition awards over half a million rupees in prizes to the best innovation for the budding innovator/entrepreneurs in five categories that holistically represent the solution types necessary to build an economy that works for all in the digital era.

Who Can Participate?

Students studying in Grades 8 – 12 all over India can participate in the Young Scientist India competition.

Challenge Timeline

Phase I : October 4th to December 15th, 2020
Phase I is the open call portion of the challenge. During this time, participants will submit their innovation ideas.

The organizing team will be available during this time for questions and to provide support for submissions. Solutions may be submitted at any time during this period, but no judging feedback will be available until December 31st.

Judging Period : December 15th to 31st, 2020
During this period, our judging panel will select the finalists. Finalists will be announced on Dec 31st, 2020.

Phase II : January 2021–April 2021
During Phase II, finalists will be asked to prepare a presentation to be given at Chennai on 29th January 2021. Winners for each category are then selected separately from government and private schools.

Judging Criteria

The Challenge will be judged by experts in design and technology including carefully selected academics with expertise on various challenge topics.

Your innovation should fall under any of the below categories :
** Agriculture
** Electronics
** App development/IT
** Robotics
** Space Sciences

** Solves Industry or humanity Problem
** Feasibility
** Development Planning
** Implementation

Prizes

Yes, winners and runners will be selected separately from Government & Private schools.

** 1st Winner – Rs.50,000/- with “SKI Mango Plus”
** 1st Runner up – Rs.30,000/-
** 2nd Runner up – Rs.15,000/-
** Certificates and Trophies will be awarded to all the top 10 in Each Category (Govt & Private schools Separately).
** Certificates will be awarded to all the participants.

FAQs

1. Registration fee?
It is absolutely free to register. This is to provide a genuine platform to encourage student’s creativity and promote innovation.

2. Can I apply as a team?
No. The YSI competition is open to Individuals only.

3. When is the last date to register?
15th Dec 2020 is the last date to register.

4. Can I apply in multiple categories?
No. You can register only for one category, If you think you have more than one category, then apply for the one which you think is most significant. However, the organizing team reserves the right to present you with an award in a different category than the one you originally selected.

5. Will you evaluate Government/Govt.Aided and Private school students separately?
Yes, The registration is separate for government/govt.aided and private school students. Also, prizes are awarded separately.

6. I missed the registration deadline. Can I still apply?
The YSI team cannot accept applications that did not complete the online registration process. Applications not completed and submitted by the application deadline will also not be accepted.

7. Does innovation need to have a prototype ready?
Not necessarily. But your project will get more recognition if you can demonstrate a prototype or simulation.
