MTDC SFC Short Film Competition 2015 :

The following is an explanation of rules and regulations (“Rules and Regulations”) governing the submission of a film (hereafter called the “Film”) to Pune Film Foundation (hereafter called the “PFF”) the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (hereafter called the “MTDC”) for consideration for the 2016 Pune International Film Festival (hereafter called the “PIFF”).

By agreeing to the Terms And Conditions, the person submitting the Film (hereafter called the “Applicant”) acknowledges that he or she has obtained consent from any and all owners, creators, writers, Producers and/or other authorized representatives of the Film (hereafter called the “Film’s Owners”) whose consent is required to submit the Film to PIFF, and has read and understood the submission rules and regulations set forth below

Aims & Objectives :

The aim of the MTDC -SFC, is to select short films of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence promoting Maharashtra Tourism. Tourism in Maharashtra is one of the fastest growing industries, bringing in large amounts of foreign exchange and helping in creating employment for scores of people in the state. Over the years Maharashtra Tourism has come up with various campaigns to increase the influx of both domestic as well as international travelers to the state. The “Maharashtra Unlimited” campaign which was broadcast in both Indian as well as international markers helped create awareness as well as popularize the wide range of tourist destinations across the state.

With further plans to create the required infrastructure to invite travelers as well as innovative campaigns would help in the influx of travelers to the state. Maharashtra, the third largest state in India is one of the most sought after travel destinations in the country. MTDC and PIFF is organizing the short film competition, a competition which will work as a catalyst in providing apt visibility to the festival goers as well as to Indian and international media, thereby helping promote the cause of tourism in Maharashtra.

(Maximum 5 films in each category)

1. Konkan- Beaches & Scuba Diving:
The state’s 700 km stretch along the Arabian Sea, makes you experience love at first sight. Maharashtra has as many beaches as the colours of the ocean. Here, the translucent waters of the Konkan gently lap onto pristine white sands. There, the azure blue-green of the Shreevardhan belt encourage the adventurous to plunge in. Indian Institute of Scuba Diving started at Tarkarali. Tarkarli, the Konkan’s oceanic gem makes the postcard-perfect water sport capital of Maharashtra. Here, the state government is encouraging you to come discover the unique marine life under the pristine waters of the gentle Arabian Sea

2. Wild Life of Vidarbha (Tadoba) Vidharbha the ‘Tiger Capital of the World’.:
There is no other city anywhere with an International Airport, which has so many notified tiger parks and reserves in its close proximity. These include Tadoba Andhari, Pench Melghat, Nagzira, Navegaon, Bor, and others. It is actually possible to land in Nagpur, drive out 30, to 50, km, and have an encounter with a real wild Royal Bengal Tiger, in its natural environment

3. Aurangabad as a tourist destination including Biwi Ka Maqbara :
The city is a tourist hub, surrounded with many historical monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki. Aurangabad is said to be a City of Gates and the strong presence of these can be felt as one drives through the city. Recently Aurangabad has been declared as Tourism Capital of Maharashtra. The city is also one of the fastest growing cities in the world

Eligibility Conditions :

The Films should be self contained. The angle and frame which captures the beauty is very important. It must entice the viewer to visit the place. The following conditions must be fulfilled by all entries:
A. The duration must be 5 mins.
B. The film should have been produced in India in any format; can be submitted to the pre selection committee on a DVD format via shipping to the festival postal address with the entry form duly signed on above mention (B) subject only.
C. Short Films must be made in Marathi/Hindi [with English subtitles] or in English language, shot on high resolution any format or in a wider gauge or digital formats and due for release on a film/digital format .
D. Selected films for MTDC- SFC will be requested to submit the festival screening copy in DVD, preferably Blue Ray format only. Preview screeners of the short films will not be returned to the applicant.
E. The applicant must submit the entry form along with preview copy before the Last Date.
F. The Festival is not obliged to view late entries.
G. A maximum of three entries would be allowed from one applicant

Procedure For Entering Films :

(Material For Pre-Selection Stage)
In order to complete the submission, the applicant is requested to send.

A. Each entry form shall be accompanied by the material detailed below:
1) One copy of synopsis of the film in English. The synopsis should not be more than 30 words for catalogue and 150 words for publicity on standard A-A bond paper. Catalogue writings are entirely at the discretion of the Festival (PIFF).
1A) 3/5 Copies of (full)commentary or dialougues of the film. 1B) If stockshots are used, mention about it and mention their footage in the film.
2) One still from the film or more (either color or black and white depending on the film – no poster), which can be used in any publication, and a photo of the director(s), with permission for their use, as well as a list/transcription of the dialogue in both the original version and an English translation must be attached to entry form.
3) An affidavit shall be furnished by the applicant on a stamp paper of the value of Rs. 100/- duly verified, declaring that the information furnished in the entry form and other forms submitted is true to the best of his/her knowledge, that the DVD/blu ray/DCP of the short film being submitted as required

B. Please specify clearly in the Entry Form, which category you want the short film to be considered for the MTDC-SFC for the films on Maharashtra Tourism, Please tick the option.

C. The cover of the DVD should be labeled with the following details:
1) Title of the film
2) The full name of the Director
3) The full name of the Producer
4) Duration of the film
5) Original language of the film
6) Date of Censor Certification, if already censored
7) Whether the film is subtitled in English

D. The last date for receipt of applications (entry forms) along with Preview DVDs is 25th December 2015. In case 25th December is a holiday, the next working day will be treated as the last date for receipt of DVDs/entries. Applications received after the last date would be rejected.
E. The entry form must be printed, signed and sent to the Festival office by post.

F. All cost for sending the copy/viewing/ screening material and accompanying material to the PIFF shall be borne by the applicant.
G. In case any of the requirements mentioned in this part of the Regulations are not completed by the applicant, the entry is liable to be rejected summarily. None of the above listed submission enclosures will be returned.
