What is National Book Trust Joy of Reading Photo Contest?

National Book Trust, India announces the “Joy of Reading” Photo Contest – a one-of- its-kind event celebrating the universal joy of reading. NBT-India invites individuals from all walks of life to capture the essence of reading and its profound impact on people during the Pune Book Festival (13-21 December 2025) at Fergusson College Grounds, Pune. The winning entries will be put up on a huge wall/flex in Fergusson Grounds, from 18th till 21st December 2025 during the Pune Book Festival. Last date of submission is 17th December 2025.

Eligibility of National Book Trust Joy of Reading Photo Contest

National Book Trust Joy of Reading Photo Contest is open to all citizens of India of all age-groups.

How To Enter in the National Book Trust Joy of Reading Photo Contest?

There is NO entry fee for this contest. Each Entrant may submit up to 4 (Four) Photos. All entries, including this completed form, must be sent via email to Deputy Director(NCCL) at nccl [at] nbtindia.gov.in and cc at director [at] nbtindia.gov.in

Photo submission details:
i. The photo should be in JPEG/JPG/PDF/PNG format.
ii. File should be in high resolution digital format. The resolution of the photo must be a minimum of 600 pixels on the longest side.
iii. It is compulsory to send the high resolution file of the picture along with its RAW file.
iv. Hardcopy of the photo can also be submitted. The photo should be of minimum 12 inch x 18 inch size, not pixelated, clear image and in high resolution.
v. Each Photo should be named as: S.No. of the Entry_Title_Name of the Entrant
vi. Each submission must include a short description of the photo (up to 50 words)

** The Theme is ‘Joy of Reading’, hence photos relevant to only this Theme should be submitted. Irrelevant photos, not conforming to the Theme, will be summarily rejected.
** The photos need to be taken during Pune Book Festival only.
** Submissions must be Original works. AI-generated images or photos with significant editing (e.g., advanced manipulation) are strictly prohibited.
** Photos will be selected based on their uniqueness, originality, creativity, composition, aesthetics, visual appeal, etc. Staged photos or selfies will not be considered.
** Basic editing, such as cropping, color enhancement, and the use of filters, is permitted as long as it does not compromise the authenticity of the photograph.
** Photos must not contain any watermarks, logos, or other identifying marks.
** Any entry found to be plagiarized or in violation of the contest guidelines will be disqualified.
** Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
** Entries received after the last date & time will not be considered.
