This Kolkata International Film Festival aims at creating a platform for better understanding of the films of past and present of the world in an atmosphere of appreciation of the film culture and to move towards excellence of the motion picture art and industry

The 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival will be held in KOLKATA between 11th and 18th November, 2016.

Short and Documentary Programme:
A. National Competition:
i) Short Fiction(within 30 min)
ii) Documentary(within 60 min)

B. Non Competitive Section:
National and International Short and Documentaries

A) Rules and Regulations for competitive sections:
i. Short Films must be fiction films. Duration will be not more than 30 Minutes. Documentary films will be not more than 60 minutes.
ii. Films must be completed between 1st October 2015 and 31st August 2016 and duly authenticated by the entrant in the entry form.
iii. Format for selection process should be in DVD with English Subtitles only.
iv. The films must have Indian premiere here only.
v. All non English speaking films in the competition will be screened at the Festival in their original versions, with English subtitles.
vi. Films must be available for festival screening on High Quality Blu Ray or DVD formats
vii. In the case of co-productions, at least one of the producers/production companies must have the right to sanction the participation of the film in competition in the Festival and authority to receive award, if any, if won.
viii. Entries will be subject to preview by a committee for selection constituted by the Director, KIFF. A film which is not accepted for the Competition Sections may be shown in the Non Competitive section of Short and Documentaries.
ix. The competition will be held from among a minimum of ten(10) and maximum of fifteen(15) eligible entrants from each of sections.

General Rules:
i. Only selected films will be intimated by email. No letters of non-acceptance will be sent. All lists will be available on the website by 20th October 2016.
ii. A director or production company may enter more than one film, provided a separate entry form accompanies each film. The entry form must clearly mark the section entered for.
iii. Film(s) screened in earlier in Kolkata International Film Festival will not be eligible.
iv. Last Date for submitting films along with the Completed Entry form and preview DVD is 31st August 2016. Preview DVD will not be returned.
v. Entry Forms should be filled in clearly. Press materials i.e. synopsis (60 words), cast, credit, directors filmography etc. must be sent in separate word file format by email or in CD/DVD formats.
